Agenda Item: Power Struggle Between Cosa Nostra and the Italian Government

The Italian Parliament, spiritual successor to the Senate that ruled the world’s largest empire: is now dealing with insurrectionist factions within that wishes to tear apart the state like the next Caesar. Their name was the Cosa Nostra. You, Senators, are tasked with defending the republic by ensuring the right legislative action to take place; and punish the rascal Cosa Nostra. But beware, the Senate may have been compromised like rest of the nation, and even your deskmate might be there to backstab at a moment’s notice.

Perhaps with some unexpected natural causes, some conspiracies or by pure lack of attention, you shall be assured that nothing will ever end up like you presume them to. So if an advice up high from the skies is to be given, keep in mind: semper expecto ad pessimi. It is now up to this final battle in the Senate, that will determine whether the eons old democratic institutions of the Italians can exist, or will it fade against the ever-more increasing gang violence. Even perhaps, it will face its destruction not by failing to fight, but by giving the power to the wrong people to fight.
