Agenda Item: Open Agenda
The Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi (TBMM), or the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, is the sole legislative authority of the Republic of Türkiye and the foundation of its constitutional democratic system. Established in 1920 during the Turkish War of Independence, the Assembly has long served as the central platform through which national sovereignty is exercised and political legitimacy is formed. Composed of elected deputies representing diverse political parties, ideologies, and constituencies, the TBMM functions as the primary body for lawmaking, governmental oversight, and parliamentary debate. In this committee, delegates will assume the roles of deputies, engaging in legislative drafting, structured deliberation, and political negotiation while adhering to formal parliamentary procedure. The simulation prioritizes realism, requiring participants to navigate party dynamics, coalition building, and institutional constraints, while developing a deeper understanding of domestic governance and parliamentary decision-making.
